STATEMENT BY R.I. DEMOCRATIC CHAIR ON ATLANTA SPA SHOOTINGS
WARWICK, RI- “This week, Americans witnessed another horrible tragedy at the hands of a gunman. The senseless murder of eight innocent people – chiefly Asians and women – in Atlanta, Georgia, captured many headlines but this deserves more than a passing glance: this demands a thorough investigation and action,” said R.I. Democratic Party Chair Joseph M. McNamara.
“We don’t fully know the motive behind the shootings but we do know that eight families have lost a loved one to gun violence. We join the people of Atlanta in offering our prayers and condolences to those families, and ask that we all reflect on the growing violence against Asian Americans in our society and condemn it when we see it,” he said.
